The Central Library of Raiganj University, West Bengal, India is a major scholarly resource hub which provides informative support to the teaching and research activities for the Faculty Members of the University, Students, Researchers, Non-Teaching Employees and External Members. Raiganj University has grown in terms of its infrastructure and facilities since 1948 though the University began its functioning in the year 2015. In the initial stage we collected syllabus oriented textbooks along with a limited number of reference books though we had a rich collection which we inherit from the College Library. Now, we are collecting rare books, Manuscripts, Census, Gazetteers, and Bibliographies etc from various sources in hard and soft copies. Till now the library has more than 200 rare books and Manuscripts – some of which are of national and international importance. We are continuously searching for rare books and other knowledge resources to enrich the collection. These collections would surely engage the teachers, scholars, students and external members of the Central Library of this University to join the quest for knowledge.
To help the Students as well as Scholars and faculty Members of the University, hailing basically from rural areas and belonging to the socially and economically backward brackets pursuing higher education and research, the Central Library of this University continuously enriches its collection with Rare Books, Manuscripts, Census, Gazetteers, Bibliographies, Theses and other relevant knowledge resources.
Besides this the Central Library has established a separate section namely “North Bengal with special emphasis on Dinajpur (Now: Uttar Dinajpur & Dakshin Dinajpur)” to encourage scholars for socio- scientific research on this area by providing Rare Books, Theses, Census Reports, Gazetteers, Rare Journals, Reference Books & Journals etc. both in soft and hard copies.
